  • Visit Assyria is a pilot program between The Young Assyrians (TYA) and Here is Assyria. This tour is designed to provide diaspora Assyrians, specifically those from Australia aged 18-40, with an immersive cultural and historical experience. This transformative journey aims to enhance young people’s understanding of their Assyrian cultural identity, to foster enduring friendships, and create lifelong memories.

  • The tentative tour dates are set for May 23 - June 8, 2025, but these are subject to change, with final dates to be confirmed during the upcoming information session.

  • The tour includes visits to several key archaeological, cultural, and religious sites across the Arbelā (Erbil), Nūhadrā (Duhok), and Nineveh regions, respectively.

  • Visit Assyria is open to Australian participants that are of Assyrian ancestry and seeking to build connections with our Traditional Homelands.

  • To register your interest, please complete the online registration form. This initial registration does not require any payment and helps us gauge interest and plan accordingly.

  • The tour consists of three phases: (1) participants express their interest, (2) participants attend an information session where we discuss all costs associated with the tour along with the confirmed itinerary, and (3) participants embark on the tour as scheduled.

  • The information session is designed to provide detailed information about the tour itinerary, costs, safety measures, travel requirements, and to answer any questions participants may have.

  • The full cost of the tour will be provided during the information session. The cost includes accommodation, guided tours, transportation within Iraq, and some meals. It does not include international airfare, travel insurance, or personal expenses.

  • Following the information session, participants are required to pay the full fee in order to secure their spot.

  • Participants who wish to cancel their participation and claim a full refund must do so within approximately 7 business days from the date of payment. This window allows for ample time to make a decision regarding their commitment. Please note that if participants fail to cancel within this specified period, the fee will not be refunded under any circumstances. This policy is in place to ensure fairness and proper planning for all involved.

  • Safety is our top priority. We continuously monitor the political and security situation in Iraq and work with local authorities and security experts to ensure a safe travel experience. Detailed safety briefings and emergency procedures will be provided.

  • Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all participants. The insurance should cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and other unforeseen events. Proof of insurance must be provided before departure.

  • Participants should ensure they are up-to-date on all necessary vaccinations and carry any personal medications. We recommend consulting with a healthcare provider regarding travel health precautions specific to Iraq.

  • Accommodation will be in reputable, Assyrian-owned and/or managed hotels and guesthouses that meet our safety and comfort standards.

  • We will use reliable local transportation, including mini buses and vans, to travel between sites. All transportation arrangements prioritise safety and comfort.

  • Yes, knowledgeable local guides will lead tours at each site, providing in-depth historical and cultural insights.
